The Contest

The 14th “World Edible Oils “ AVPA – Paris 2016 International Contest is now over for all the edible oils categories: Olive oils, Grains and Nuts oils, Blended oils and Flavored oils.

THE  FULL AWARDS LIST  WILL BE PUBLISHED ON THURSDAY APRIL 21 st 2016 AFTER THE AWARDS CEREMONY AT 5 PM IN THE 4th DISTRICT PARIS TOWN HALL.

The 14th  “World Edible Oils” international contest AVPA – Paris 2016 is reserved to vegetable oil producers and producers’ groups, members of the association. Each year a jury of professionals operates a selection among registered oils in order to award them the “Diplôme Produit Gourmet” and, for the best of them, gives one of the three medals:  “Gourmet d’Or”, “Gourmet d’Argent” or “Gourmet de Bronze”.

Attention: remember the new categories: black fruity oils in the olive oils contest and in the vegetable, grains and nuts oils contest: flavoured, macerated and blended oils.

AVPA jury

The originality of AVPA contest, resides in the quality of its jury. This jury of tasting is composed of professionals of edible oils business, great chefs of which certain have Michelin stars and enlightened amateurs.  They rely upon the AVPA contest rules available on the AVPA web site.

Jury members are tasting products with rigour and serious, in order to determine which oils appear the most interesting: complexity, subtlety, aromatic harmony are criteria of quality.  To ensure the coherence of the cultural referents and linguistics the jury is of French gastronomical culture.

Before the AVPA contest, a pre-tasting allows to put aside the products whose characteristics do not satisfy the contest requests.  At the end of this stage the selected oils are accepted for final tasting and are awarded a “Produit Gourmet” diploma. All tastings are carried out blind, in a sensory analysis laboratory. Since 2010 the contest proceeds with the technical support of the Centre Technique de l’ Olivier in Aix en Provence.  The awarded products can use the medals, in the scope defined by the AVPA licence available on the page hereunder: ” A medal: what do with it ?”

CALENDAR

FEBRUARY 2016

Registration form and payment must arrive in AVPA office before Saturday  20 th  of February 2016.

Samples must arrive in AVPA office before Monday  29 th of February 2016.

 MARCH 2016

First selection of olive oils on Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of March 2016 in the CTO in Aix en Provence .

The olive oils final jury will meet on Monday 21 st of March 2016 in the CTO in Aix en Provence .

 APRIL 2016

Ordering and selection of vegetable, grains and nuts, and flavored oils on 1st and 2nd of April 2016

The vegetable, grains and nuts, and flavored oils jury will meet on Monday 4 th of April 2016 in AVPA.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 21 st of April 2016 at 5 pm and will be followed by a cocktail in the lounges of 4th district Paris Town Hall.

ALL RESULTS WILL BE ON LINE on Thursday 21 st of April 2016 at 6 pm

Public exhibition of all awarded oils open to general public on friday 22 nd and saturday 23 rd of April 2016 from 11 am until 7 pm in AVPA exhibition room.
